Freddie Odom
Douglas Fred "Freddie" Odom, Jr. is an actor, author, teacher, and independent American politician. In March 2012, as a City Councilmember, Odom came out as a person with autism. He was subsequently elected Mayor of Bluffton, Georgia.
After successfully auditioning for a role alongside Victoria Henley in the play ''Sister Queens'',〔http://adventfred.blogspot.ca/2012/08/the-case-for-victoria.html〕 Odom became a regular cast member in "Georgia's Official Folk-Life Play," Swamp Gravy.〔http://www.earlycountynews.com/news/2010-03-17/Society/All_for_the_love_of_Swamp_Gravy.html〕 He was elected to the Bluffton City Council in November 2010.〔http://www.lp.org/candidates/elected-official/douglas-odom〕 After appearing in an article on Swamp Gravy in the January/February 2012 issue of ''Southwest Georgia Living'', Odom self-identified as autistic in the following issue.〔"Proud Community Actor," ''Southwest Georgia Living'', March/April 2012, p. 6.〕
